I pose a question...
Hello my fellow blogger, friends and those of you who lurk but never speak...I have my eye on you! I have finished school for this semester and am in Lay Back City for the next couple of weeks. It is great! I really don't know what to do with myself. As I was working today, I got to thinking about Christmas traditions. Ya see...we really don't have any. I mean we have things we do on Christmas and Christmas Eve...but nothing I would call a tradition.
Then I realized that I don't really have anything I want as a tradition. I sort of like that it is up in the air and I am not locked into any mold that cannot be broken. So my question to you is...
What are your traditions...do you like them...and why???
I guess that is three questions.
I would love to hear from you. Even you lurkers out there...Ya Stacie E...I mean you.

OK seriously. Why me? You know all of our traditions!!! They are just about the same as yours. Nearly non-existent. At some point before Christmas we try to make cookies for Santa, merely because we always did as children and to me it just doesn't seem right to leave Santa Oreo's. We try to go see the lights, but even this year, we didn't do that. But now that I think it through completely, we have no real traditions either. I guess sometimes just winging it and enjoying the holiday works too! :)
this Stacie's traditions are to open one present on christmas eve then the rest on christmas morning followed by a yummy breakfast.
I try to make it ice skating (haven't for a while) and to see the lights downtown. I personally usually try and read The Forgotten Carol book every year too.
I think Shaw makes Gingerbread houses (as seen on her blog) and watches every X-mas movie she has in her library.
We had traditions while growing up...Putting the christmas tree up on moms birthday, making popcorn balls, dads christmas party But since I've been married we haven't had any, going to moms one year going to betty's the next. But I would disagree with you, I don't think that traditions lock you into anything, well maybe with some families, but I think i would be fun to have a traditiion and modifiy it every year until it's something that you would want to do everyn year, does that make sense? But I am trying something this year. I'm tired of going places on Christmas Day and would just like to stay home. So I made sure that santa brought things for us to do and to keep us intertained through out the day. If it works I will try it again next year, but the kids get older so that will also have to change. it's worth a try!
We're trying to merge Halloween and Christmas into one 3 month long holiday...
We made Gingerbread cookies for Santa in the form of Skull & Crossbone "Snowflakes." The Undead Gingerbread men turned out pretty well too, I think. "Christmas of the Living Dead" has a nice ring to it don't ya think?
Stacie...my sister...not Stacie my co-worker...seriously too many Stacies. Anyway...you are the only lurker I am really aware of. So that is why. I mostly just wanted you to make your presence known on the web...outside of facebook. Welcome to the blog-o-sphere. You should get one...they are fun!
Stacie my co-worker...I love yummy breakfasts...as long as i don't have to make them. I think this year we are going to read the birth of christ and the night before christmas, after making cookies. Don't know. the houses looked really cute!
Mary Ellen...yes I got your message on facebook. You anonymous commentor you! That sounds fun too! I wish we could just stay home on christmas and hang out around the house...not really an option. I like to go visit, but it would be nice to not have to rush around all day.
Mike,
You are my kind of weird. John is in love with your wreath and all the Jack stuff you have. I am thinking that we are going to do some of the same with our decorations so that we can leave them up much longer. From talk like a pirate day till new years. We will see. It will be fun trying to make it happen! I enjoy your cookie creativity and that your kids are into it. Well done!
I've thought a lot about traditions...I don't know if I should thank you or not? still deciding...SO as I was getting ready for Christmas I remembered a tradition that my kids love. But first allow me to tell a little about Don, He would like us not to go about in PJ's all day. They are not something that other people should see you in per chance that some one might see you. It's his own thing and I try to respect that. So on Christmas Eve morning the kids get to open a gift, it's pj's and they get to wear them all day! They love it. I will do it as long as they love it. So thanks for making me think about the things we do to make any holiday or day of the week special! And you can tell stacie, your sister, that zoolights, at the zoo, are pretty cool! Hope you had a nice holiday!
Good day!
